Walk-up clusters, studios and one-beds
Movers in International City, Dubai
International City is the most consistent building stock in Dubai and the least like the rest of it. Almost everything is a four-storey walk-up with no lift, which means every carton and every wardrobe is carried down a staircase — and that is the single fact any honest quote here has to be built around.
Same-day and next-day moves are routine here — it is the area we get the most short-notice calls from.

Move permits in International City
Formal move permits are not usually required here — most buildings are landlord-managed and the security guard is the whole approval process. What is worth arranging is where the truck will stand, since the parking around most clusters is full for most of the day. Sending us a photograph of your building entrance and the nearest place a vehicle can stop saves more time here than any paperwork would.
International City is unusual in Dubai for being almost entirely one type of building: a four-storey block with no lift. That consistency is useful, because it means there is no ambiguity about how a move here works. Everything is carried.
Which floor, and how far to the truck
Those are the only two questions that matter here, and together they determine the whole quote.
The first is obvious — a fourth-floor flat is more trips up and down a staircase than a first-floor flat. The second is less obvious and often costs more. Parking around the clusters is dense, and if the nearest a truck can stop is sixty metres away, every one of those carried cartons gains a sixty-metre walk at the bottom of the stairs.
That is why we ask for both before quoting, and why a smaller truck that can get near the entrance regularly beats a larger one that has to stop at the end of the row.
What comes apart
The stairwells are narrow with tight turns. A wardrobe that walked into the flat as flat pack and was built inside it is not coming down whole, and neither is most three-seat furniture.
So the dismantling list here is longer than in a tower, and the fittings discipline matters more — bagged and taped to the piece, every time, because a wardrobe carried down four flights and rebuilt with the wrong screws was not worth carrying down four flights.
Finding your door
A practical note rather than a moving one. Building numbering inside the clusters defeats satellite navigation fairly reliably. A photograph of your entrance and a dropped pin on WhatsApp gets the crew to the right door first time, and it saves more time on an International City job than almost anything else you can do.
Short notice is normal here
Turnover in the clusters is high and a lot of our work here is booked the same week or the same day. That is fine — a studio or a one-bedroom at short notice is the job most likely to fit into a partly-booked day. Call rather than message if it is urgent.
Nearby
Dubai Silicon Oasis is the closest neighbour and a common upgrade destination, with Al Warqa, Nad Al Hamar and Muhaisnah all a short run away. See apartment moving for how walk-up moves are crewed, and local moving for cluster-to-cluster jobs.
What we usually move in International City
- Four-storey residential blocks, essentially none of which have a service lift
- Studios and one-bedroom flats, which make up the large majority
- Some two-bedroom units, mainly in the England, France and Spain clusters
- Shared flats and partial moves, where one occupant leaves and the others stay
- Very high tenant turnover, so short-notice moves are the norm rather than the exception
Access and logistics
- No lifts. Everything is carried, from every floor, without exception
- Parking around the clusters is dense and a truck often cannot stop directly outside the entrance
- Buildings within a cluster are numbered in a way that defeats satellite navigation — a photo of your entrance helps
- Stairwells are narrow with tight turns, which decides what comes apart before it comes down
- A smaller vehicle usually gets closer to the door and beats a larger one on total time

Common moves to and from International City
- Within International City
- Cluster to cluster. Very common, and usually a half-day job.
- International City to Silicon Oasis
- Short run, moving from a walk-up into a tower.
- International City to Al Qusais or Muhaisnah
- Similar building stock at both ends, so the crew size holds.
Services we offer in International City
Moving in International City — common questions
Essentially never. The clusters are built as four-storey walk-ups and everything — every carton, every wardrobe, every mattress — is carried down a staircase. Any quote you are given here that has not asked which floor you are on has not been thought about, because a fourth-floor flat and a first-floor flat are meaningfully different jobs.
A studio moving within the clusters is the smallest standard job we do, and it is the size where the AED 500-ish starting figure is realistic. The two things that move it are your floor and whether the truck can stop near the entrance. Send a couple of photos and we will give you a number rather than a range.
Yes, and it is a common booking here. We quote it as the partial job it is, work around the people staying, and only touch what you have identified as yours.
They are, and satellite navigation is not much help — building numbering within a cluster follows its own logic. Send us a photo of your entrance and drop a pin on WhatsApp and the crew will get to the right door first time. It sounds trivial and it regularly saves half an hour.

Studio and small one-bedroom moves within Dubai generally start around AED 500, and the figure climbs with the volume of furniture, the number of rooms, whether packing is included, and how the two buildings are accessed. Access is the part people underestimate: a ground-floor villa with the truck on the driveway is a different job from a fourth-floor walk-up in International City with a 60-metre carry. We would rather look at your rooms than guess — send photos on WhatsApp and you will get a real number rather than a range.
Four things, in roughly this order of impact. Volume — how much there is to carry, which is what decides crew size and how many truck runs it takes. Access at both ends — lift or stairs, how far the truck can park from the door, and whether a service lift has to be booked. Services — packing, dismantling, reassembly and unpacking each add labour and time. And timing — a move that has to happen tomorrow, or on a Friday evening, costs more than one booked with a week of notice.
Materials are included in the quote — cartons, bubble wrap, stretch film, tape and paper. You do not need to buy anything or collect boxes from a supermarket. If you would rather pack your own clothes and books to keep the cost down and leave us the kitchen, glass and electronics, that is a normal way to split it and we will price it that way.
