Moving within Dubai

Local Movers in Dubai

Almost every move we do is a local one — a flat in Al Qusais to a flat in Mirdif, a villa in Al Warqa to a townhouse in JVC. Within Dubai the distance is rarely what matters. What matters is the access at each end and what time of day the truck has to cross the city.

  • Priced by the job, not the hour

You know the figure before we start. Hourly pricing puts your interests and ours on opposite sides, which is a strange way to begin.

  • Traffic planned around

Al Ittihad and Sheikh Zayed at the wrong hour can add ninety minutes to a twenty-minute run. We schedule the crossing, not just the job.

  • Short moves stay short

Same building, same street, one floor up. Priced as the small job it is.

  • Same-day slots

Short-notice local moves are routine work, subject to what the crews are already booked on.

Nearly every move in this city is a local one. People move within Dubai constantly — a rent review, a new job on the other side of the creek, a growing family needing a third bedroom, a shrinking one that no longer needs four.

What surprises people is how little the distance matters to the price. A move from Al Rashidiya to Jebel Ali crosses the entire emirate and costs very little more than the same contents moving one community over. The truck is on the road for an extra hour; the loading, carrying and rebuilding — which is where the day actually goes — is identical.

What does change the price

Volume. How much there is. This decides crew size and whether it is one truck run or two, and it is the largest single factor by a wide margin.

Access. Lift or stairs, which floor, and how close the truck can get to the door. A ground-floor villa with a driveway and a fourth-floor walk-up with a shared street bay are different jobs with identical contents.

Timing. Same-day and end-of-month slots are in demand. The last week of any month is the busiest in Dubai by a distance, because that is when tenancy contracts turn over.

Crossing the city

The one local-move variable that genuinely is about geography is when the truck crosses. Al Ittihad Road, Sheikh Zayed and the Al Khail interchanges at the wrong hour will add an hour and a half to what should be a twenty-five minute run, and a crew sitting in traffic is a crew not carrying anything.

So we schedule the crossing rather than just the job. East-to-west runs load early and cross before the morning peak thickens; the reverse runs plan around the evening.

Very short moves

Moving one floor up in the same building, or three doors down the same street, is a completely reasonable booking and is priced as the small job it is. With a service lift there is often no truck loading at all. It is worth saying because people frequently assume a move that short is not worth calling about, and then spend a weekend carrying a wardrobe up a stairwell.

Where our local moves run

The heaviest routes we run are within the eastern belt — Al Qusais, Muhaisnah, Mirdif and Al Warqa — and out west to Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC), Al Furjan and Discovery Gardens. See the areas we serve page for every community we cover and the access notes for each.

How it works

  1. 1 Send the two addresses Building and floor at each end is most of what we need.
  2. 2 Photos or a survey Photos for a flat, an on-site visit for a villa.
  3. 3 Fixed written price For the job, with any extras named upfront.
  4. 4 Slot and permits The crossing timed to avoid the worst of it, permits arranged at both ends.
  5. 5 Move day Pack, dismantle, load, cross, unload, rebuild, walk through.

Frequently asked questions

No. The price is for the job and it is agreed in writing before we start. Hourly pricing sets your interests against ours — you want the crew to be quick, and an hourly rate rewards them for not being — which is a strange footing to begin a day on.

Slightly, but far less than people expect. Within Dubai the mileage is almost never the driver; the volume and the access at both ends are. A move from Al Rashidiya to Jebel Ali crosses the whole emirate and is priced very close to the same job across one community.

Often. Small flats at short notice are usually possible and it is normal work for us. Call rather than message if it is today — a phone call gets an answer in two minutes.

Most local moves start between 8am and 9am, which gives a full day and clears the worst of the return traffic. Buildings that only permit moves outside working hours are the exception and we schedule around whatever your management allows.

Ask us. Our work and this website are about moving within Dubai, and inter-emirate moves are quoted case by case rather than being something we advertise as a standing service.
