Deira is the most access-constrained part of Dubai to move in, and pretending otherwise does nobody any favours. The lanes are narrow, kerbside space is effectively unavailable through the working day, and a long carry from wherever the truck can legally stand is the normal condition rather than the exception.

Move permits in Deira
Older buildings here are landlord-managed and formal permits are rare — the watchman is the process. What actually needs arranging is the vehicle: where it can stop, for how long, and whether a smaller van is the only thing that will physically reach your street. Deira is the oldest and densest part of the city, and it is the hardest place in Dubai to run a move. That is not a complaint — it is the planning problem, and everything about how we work here follows from it.
The vehicle decides the day
In most of Dubai you choose a truck by volume. In Deira you choose it by whether it can physically reach the building.
Many of these streets are narrow, one-way, and parked solid. A three-tonne truck that cannot turn into your lane is worse than useless — it stops at the end of the road and every single item gains a hundred-metre walk. So we frequently bring a smaller van and make more runs. It looks less efficient on paper and it finishes earlier, every time, because each trip begins at your door.
Start early. Genuinely early.
The gap between a 7am start and an 11am start here is bigger than anywhere else in Dubai. Early morning is the only window when the lanes are passable and there is somewhere legal to stop. By mid-morning the surrounding streets have filled and the carry distance has doubled.
We will push harder for an early slot in Deira than anywhere else, and this is why.
Stairs, again
Where there is a lift it is a small passenger lift. Cartons ride, furniture walks. The stairwells are old and tight at the turns, so more comes apart here than in a newer building — with the fittings bagged and taped to the piece, as always.
Shops and stockrooms
A good part of our Deira work is commercial: small retail units, stockrooms and trading offices around the souk districts. These move overnight or at first light because the shop has to open, and the stock is counted out and counted back in against one list. warehouse moving covers that.
Nearby
Bur Dubai across the creek has near-identical building stock. Al Garhoud, Oud Metha and Al Qusais are all short runs, and Mirdif is the classic destination for a family finally leaving the old city for a villa.

Studio and small one-bedroom moves within Dubai generally start around AED 500, and the figure climbs with the volume of furniture, the number of rooms, whether packing is included, and how the two buildings are accessed. Access is the part people underestimate: a ground-floor villa with the truck on the driveway is a different job from a fourth-floor walk-up in International City with a 60-metre carry. We would rather look at your rooms than guess — send photos on WhatsApp and you will get a real number rather than a range.
Four things, in roughly this order of impact. Volume — how much there is to carry, which is what decides crew size and how many truck runs it takes. Access at both ends — lift or stairs, how far the truck can park from the door, and whether a service lift has to be booked. Services — packing, dismantling, reassembly and unpacking each add labour and time. And timing — a move that has to happen tomorrow, or on a Friday evening, costs more than one booked with a week of notice.
Materials are included in the quote — cartons, bubble wrap, stretch film, tape and paper. You do not need to buy anything or collect boxes from a supermarket. If you would rather pack your own clothes and books to keep the cost down and leave us the kitchen, glass and electronics, that is a normal way to split it and we will price it that way.
