Old city flats and retail
Movers in Bur Dubai
Bur Dubai shares Deira's problem and adds a retail one. The residential streets are tight and parking is contested, and around Meena Bazaar the ground floors are all shops — which means loading has to work around a trading street that is busy from mid-morning until late.
Same-day is often possible. Early starts are strongly preferred around the bazaar streets.

Move permits in Bur Dubai
Older buildings are landlord-managed and informal. The newer Mankhool buildings want a standard permit with a couple of days' notice. The real preparation everywhere in Bur Dubai is deciding where the vehicle stands and at what hour, because on a retail street that decision is worth more than any paperwork.
Bur Dubai has the same tight-access problem as Deira across the water, plus one of its own: a great deal of the residential stock sits directly above working shops.
Loading on a trading street
The kerb outside your building is not just parking — it is the delivery frontage for the businesses underneath you. From mid-morning until late in the evening it is in constant use, and a moving truck parked across it is a problem for several people at once.
Which is why we start early here. Seven in the morning, the street is quiet, the kerb is free, and the whole load can be done before the shops open properly.
Mankhool is a different area
Worth separating out. Mankhool has newer mid-rise buildings with real lifts, defined parking bays and building management that issues move permits. It behaves like a standard Dubai apartment move and needs a couple of days’ notice for the permit — see apartment moving.
The bazaar districts — Meena Bazaar, Al Raffa, Al Fahidi — do not behave like that at all, and it is worth being clear which of the two you are in when you book.
Small lifts and old stairwells
The same pattern as the rest of the old city. Cartons in the lift, furniture down the stairs, more dismantling than a newer building needs because of the turns.
Retail moves
Shops and stockrooms here move overnight, because the alternative is a closed day. Fixtures, display units and stock out and set up before opening, with the stock counted at both ends — warehouse moving.
Nearby
Al Karama is next door with similar buildings, Oud Metha is a short run, and Deira is straight across the creek. For families leaving the old city, Al Barsha and Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC) are the usual destinations.
What we usually move in Bur Dubai
- Older apartment blocks of five to eight storeys, small lifts or none
- Family flats above ground-floor retail throughout the bazaar districts
- Newer mid-rise buildings in Mankhool with proper lifts and management
- Shops, stockrooms and small trading offices
- Shared accommodation, where partial moves are routine
Access and logistics
- Narrow residential streets with heavily contested kerbside space
- Ground-floor retail means the loading area is also a busy shopfront
- Trading streets are busy from mid-morning until late evening
- Lifts are small where present; large furniture uses the stairwell
- Mankhool is noticeably easier than the bazaar districts

Moving in Bur Dubai — common questions
First thing. Around Meena Bazaar and the trading streets the shopfronts are busy from mid-morning until late at night, and the same stretch of kerb your truck needs is the one being used for deliveries. A 7am start gets the load done before the street wakes up.
Considerably. Mankhool has newer mid-rise buildings with proper lifts, defined parking and building management that issues permits. It behaves like a normal Dubai apartment move; the bazaar districts do not.
Yes, and for retail it is usually the only sensible option. Fixtures, display units and stock moved and set up overnight so the shop opens on time. The stock is counted at both ends.

Studio and small one-bedroom moves within Dubai generally start around AED 500, and the figure climbs with the volume of furniture, the number of rooms, whether packing is included, and how the two buildings are accessed. Access is the part people underestimate: a ground-floor villa with the truck on the driveway is a different job from a fourth-floor walk-up in International City with a 60-metre carry. We would rather look at your rooms than guess — send photos on WhatsApp and you will get a real number rather than a range.
Four things, in roughly this order of impact. Volume — how much there is to carry, which is what decides crew size and how many truck runs it takes. Access at both ends — lift or stairs, how far the truck can park from the door, and whether a service lift has to be booked. Services — packing, dismantling, reassembly and unpacking each add labour and time. And timing — a move that has to happen tomorrow, or on a Friday evening, costs more than one booked with a week of notice.
Materials are included in the quote — cartons, bubble wrap, stretch film, tape and paper. You do not need to buy anything or collect boxes from a supermarket. If you would rather pack your own clothes and books to keep the cost down and leave us the kitchen, glass and electronics, that is a normal way to split it and we will price it that way.
