Downtown has the tightest move rules in Dubai, and unlike much of the city they are genuinely enforced. Permits, permitted hours, designated bays and a community team that will turn a crew away at the barrier. All of it is manageable; none of it is arrangeable on the morning.

Move permits in Downtown Dubai
Two layers here, and both are needed. The community management issues a move permit with defined hours; the building separately requires its own permit and a booked service-lift slot. Expect to need the tenancy contract, the mover's trade licence and insurance, and a refundable deposit. Allow a week — this is the area where an under-prepared move is most likely to be stopped at the barrier and rescheduled.
Downtown is the most tightly governed place to move in Dubai. That is not a criticism — a district of that density with that many residents has to be. But it does mean the paperwork is the project, and the furniture is the easy part.

The hours are set for you
Permitted moving windows here are narrower than elsewhere in the city and weekends are frequently excluded entirely. That catches people out, because a weekend move is the obvious choice everywhere else.
So we establish what your specific community and building permit before you fix a date, rather than after.
Designated bays only
A truck cannot pull up outside a tower entrance here. Loading happens at designated bays, usually underground with a height limit that decides the vehicle. We confirm the clearance for your building before dispatching.
Old Town is a different job
Same community, different building. Old Town is low-rise with narrower vehicle access and smaller lifts, which means more furniture goes down the stairs and the crew is sized accordingly. The community permit requirements are identical.

Studio and small one-bedroom moves within Dubai generally start around AED 500, and the figure climbs with the volume of furniture, the number of rooms, whether packing is included, and how the two buildings are accessed. Access is the part people underestimate: a ground-floor villa with the truck on the driveway is a different job from a fourth-floor walk-up in International City with a 60-metre carry. We would rather look at your rooms than guess — send photos on WhatsApp and you will get a real number rather than a range.
Four things, in roughly this order of impact. Volume — how much there is to carry, which is what decides crew size and how many truck runs it takes. Access at both ends — lift or stairs, how far the truck can park from the door, and whether a service lift has to be booked. Services — packing, dismantling, reassembly and unpacking each add labour and time. And timing — a move that has to happen tomorrow, or on a Friday evening, costs more than one booked with a week of notice.
Materials are included in the quote — cartons, bubble wrap, stretch film, tape and paper. You do not need to buy anything or collect boxes from a supermarket. If you would rather pack your own clothes and books to keep the cost down and leave us the kitchen, glass and electronics, that is a normal way to split it and we will price it that way.
