The lift question, properly asked
The most common misunderstanding in JVC is the word “lift”. A great many buildings here have a passenger lift and no service lift, and those are not the same thing.
A passenger lift takes cartons. It does not take a wardrobe, a three-seat sofa or a double mattress. So in most JVC blocks the cartons ride and the furniture walks down a staircase, and the crew is sized for the staircase.
Which is why we ask what kind of lift rather than whether there is one. In a ground-plus-four it is entirely manageable — it simply needs to be in the quote.
Townhouses are a third case
No lift at all, an internal staircase with a turn in it, and often three floors of it. That turn is what decides whether a wardrobe comes down whole. We look at it during the survey and settle the dismantling list before the day.
Construction, and where the truck stands
JVC is still filling in, and internal roads get restricted or diverted at short notice. It seldom stops a move but it does change where a vehicle can park, and a diverted road can turn a five-metre carry into a fifty-metre one.

Access is the part people underestimate: a ground-floor villa with the truck on the driveway is a different job from a fourth-floor walk-up in International City with a 60-metre carry. Four things, in roughly this order of impact. Volume — how much there is to carry, which is what decides crew size and how many truck runs it takes. Access at both ends — lift or stairs, how far the truck can park from the door, and whether a service lift has to be booked. Services — packing, dismantling, reassembly and unpacking each add labour and time. And timing — a move that has to happen tomorrow, or on a Friday evening, costs more than one booked with a week of notice.
