New handovers and first move-ins

Movers in Dubai South

Dubai South is mostly new. That changes the shape of the job: a large share of our work here is not moving a household out of somewhere, it is moving one into an empty apartment or townhouse and assembling everything that was delivered flat.

Two to three days. It is a long run west, so we schedule the crossing rather than just the job.

Move permits in Dubai South

Newer buildings ask for a standard move permit with a couple of days' notice, and for a first occupancy many also want proof of handover before issuing it. Townhouses and villas generally need nothing beyond community notice. Logistics-district premises need an access pass arranged with the authority.

Dubai South is still being built and handed over, which makes it unusual among the areas we cover: most of the moves here are inbound, into somewhere empty, rather than outbound from somewhere lived in.

A first occupancy is three jobs

Bring the belongings from the old place. Assemble the new furniture that has been delivered flat-packed. Remove the packaging.

We do all three in one visit, and the third one matters more than people expect. New furniture for a two-bedroom apartment produces an amount of cardboard and polystyrene that will fill the living room it was supposed to furnish. Having it leave with the crew rather than sitting in the hall for a fortnight is a real benefit.

furniture moving covers assembly-only if the belongings are already there.

The long run west

Coming from Mirdif, Al Warqa or Al Rashidiya this is the full width of the emirate. It costs less than people assume — the driving is an extra hour, and the loading and rebuilding, where the day actually goes, is unchanged.

What we do change is the start time. Crossing the whole city during a peak is what turns a long day into a lost one, so eastern-origin moves to Dubai South load early.

New buildings, and the lift question

Modern buildings with working lifts, though as elsewhere, new does not automatically mean a dedicated service lift. We ask. Several also want proof of handover before issuing a first-occupancy permit, which is easy to produce and annoying to chase the day before.

Nearby

Jebel Ali and Dubai Investments Park (DIP) are the neighbouring commercial districts, and Al Furjan and Discovery Gardens are the closest established residential communities.

Moving in Dubai South — common questions

Usually three things at once, and we do all of them in one visit: your belongings brought over, the new flat-pack furniture assembled, and the packaging taken away. That last part is the one people underestimate — a two-bedroom apartment's worth of new furniture generates a genuinely startling quantity of cardboard and polystyrene, and having it gone the same day is worth more than it sounds.

Less than you would expect. It is a long drive and the truck is on the road for an extra hour or so, but the loading, carrying and rebuilding — which is where the day actually goes — is unchanged. What we do adjust is the start time, because crossing the whole emirate during a peak is what genuinely costs a day.

Often, for a first occupancy. It is a straightforward document from the developer, but it does need to exist before the permit is issued, so it is worth having it to hand rather than chasing it the day before.

Newer buildings ask for a standard move permit with a couple of days' notice, and for a first occupancy many also want proof of handover before issuing it. Studio and small one-bedroom moves within Dubai generally start around AED 500, and the figure climbs with the volume of furniture, the number of rooms, whether packing is included, and how the two buildings are accessed. Access is the part people underestimate: a ground-floor villa with the truck on the driveway is a different job from a fourth-floor walk-up in International City with a 60-metre carry. We would rather look at your rooms than guess — send photos on WhatsApp and you will get a real number rather than a range.

Four things, in roughly this order of impact. Volume — how much there is to carry, which is what decides crew size and how many truck runs it takes. Access at both ends — lift or stairs, how far the truck can park from the door, and whether a service lift has to be booked. Services — packing, dismantling, reassembly and unpacking each add labour and time. And timing — a move that has to happen tomorrow, or on a Friday evening, costs more than one booked with a week of notice.

Materials are included in the quote — cartons, bubble wrap, stretch film, tape and paper. You do not need to buy anything or collect boxes from a supermarket. If you would rather pack your own clothes and books to keep the cost down and leave us the kitchen, glass and electronics, that is a normal way to split it and we will price it that way.
